Short description
Golf Journal is a golf score tracker and handicap diary for iPhone and iPad. Log a round from its total in about 20 seconds or hole by hole, and follow a handicap estimate that uses the World Handicap System formula.
Long description
Golf Journal is a golf diary for your rounds, your practice and your handicap. Log a round from its total in about 20 seconds, or score hole by hole with strokes, putts, fairways, greens in regulation and penalties. Out and In totals and a scorecard with birdies, bogeys and doubles marked come with every round, along with notes, a feel rating, photos and videos. A paper scorecard can be photographed and its hole scores read on the device, and golf workouts recorded with the Workout app on Apple Watch show up ready to become rounds.
The handicap estimate uses the World Handicap System formula: the best 8 score differentials of the last 20 rounds, with nine-hole rounds paired. Golfers can see the trend, which rounds count, which drops out next and what score would bring the estimate down, plus course handicap, net score and Stableford points for each set of tees. Golfers with an official Handicap Index can enter it and the app uses it instead. Golf Journal's figure is an estimate, not an official Handicap Index.
Practice sessions record the area, duration, balls, swing cues and drills, with a timer to start before practice. Insights show scoring by par 3, 4 and 5, hardest holes, courses, months and practice time, measured against a goal such as breaking 90. There's no account and no ads: the diary syncs between devices through the golfer's own iCloud.
